Sunday Morning Small Groups

New Leaf offers Sunday Morning Small Group Experiences (formerly known as Sunday School). They meet each Sunday between the 9AM and 11AM Services. Groups start at Nursery School age ( new born to age 5) and include all School Age Groups. Two Adult Classes also meet. Signs showing Class Room locations are located at the end of each hallway in the rear of the Event Center. Maps are also available at the Information Kiosk, also located in the rear of the Event Center.

Small groups are very important to our church. We believe we can fulfill our mission to:

Love the Lord! Love one another! Make disciples of Jesus Christ!

A small group is a great way to get to know one another. A nonthreatening, friendly environment is the best setting for new friendships to form and grow.

Small groups bring us together on common ground. Smaller settings provide time to share life’s details with each other. It gives us opportunity to tell about our child’s latest achievement or share a picture of our grandchildren.

A great way for all of us to help visitors become committed disciples of Jesus Christ is to JOIN A SMALL GROUP then invite someone new to come with us! Small groups aren’t just about us and our journey of discipleship; they are also a tool for us to use to help others grow in their faith as well. Adobe

Yarns of Love

A MESSAGE FROM THE YARNS OF LOVE GROUP
Hi there New Leaf family…
Yarns of Love have been busy, busy, busy! For those of you not

familiar with our group, we are a group that meet on the first and

third Saturdays of the month to knit or crochet prayer shawls, lap

robes, hats, scarves, Guide Post T-sweaters and baby blankets

for the Erie NICU. Everything we make is blessed & prayed over

on our special fifth Sunday services. The prayer shawls & lap

robes are given to individuals in the hospitals & nursing homes

or anyone that is going through a difficult time in their lives.

The people that have received these special gifts have said they

can feel the love & healing power of God as they wear them.

The hat & scarves have gone to children at the center & in the

community or I have also sent them to Tennessee & West Virginia to what is called The Christmas Train where they take a train load of winter items into the hill country. The baby blankets are taken by a New Leaf member to the Erie NICU to be used to cover the infant’s incubator to block some of the harsh light. The families wrap the infant in it when they hold their child then take the blanket home with them when they are discharged. I would like to invite anyone if interested to stop in some Saturday morning and either

join in the fun of making projects or just sit and visit for a

spell.
Yarns of Love began in the spring of 2010. Since our

beginning we have made and have had blessed over

2,000 articles. That’s 2,000 lives that have been touched

in one way or another by love and prayers. We even

have a member that has taken it upon herself to make

lap robes for a cancer center outside the state, sending

our love to others well beyond our community and region.

Please keep our group in your prayers that we can

continue to work our hands to produce these items that

bring comfort and prayers to those that receive them.

Bicycle Messengers

Goals:

1. FAITH – be out and about enjoying God’s beautiful creation and be the face of Jesus to those we meet along the way.

2. FELLOWSHIP – meet new friends within NLUMC and spend more time with old friends in a recreational setting

3. FITNESS – be aware of our bodies as a temple of the Holy Spirit and strive to honor God with our bodies so that we can continue on in ministry

Target Group: Saints of every age, gender, and riding ability. Rides will be family friendly with options for those who desire more challenge.

Meeting Specifics: Rides will vary month to month dependent on weather but we will strive for 1-2 organized rides per month. Date, time, and starting location will be announced at least 2 weeks in advance. Area bike trails will be taken advantage of and optional picnics may be included. Other things being considered are lending bikes to those who don’t have one and car pools to the starting location.

Fit for Christ

Guess what? We in Fit for Christ just celebrated our 3rd birthday !!! Yep – we are now 3 years old. Hard to believe this small group started on October 19th, 2015. Thanks to Candy we celebrated our birthday with “Sparkling Juice”, good laughs, and congrats to all !!!
Did you know we meet 3 mornings each week? Did you know we have 3 Bible studies?

Donna Jones is still teaching from the “40 Days of Kindness” on Monday mornings. Have you checked out her “Kindness Tree” on the bulletin board? If you haven’t just stop by and take a look.

Bob and Candy Jankowski are doing a wonderful job leading our group in the book of “Luke”. I always thought I knew the book of Luke pretty good but I’m discovering there is sooo much more to learn.

I am still leading the group on Friday mornings from a book entitled “Unbridled Faith”. We will be in that book for quite awhile so please come join us. It’s a rather humorous book taking place on a horse farm. Yes, I said horse farm !!! See – God is everywhere.

Our class attendance is about 9 to 12 each time we meet. From 9:00 am to 9:30 am we have our Bible study, then from around 9:30 am to 10:00 am we do our aerobics led by Donna. After aerobics, I lead the group in floor exercises. We do have an exception to our schedule though. On Mondays, we don’t do aerobics, we work on mobility, bone health, joint pain, and various stretching exercises. We have steps and weights for anyone who wants to use them during the aerobics but some prefer not to use the step or the weights. For the floor exercises, we have plenty of mats for those who want to get on the floor. Some of the class members have a hard time getting up and down so they use the back of a chair and do the floor exercises standing up !!! See - we accommodate everyone !!! We welcome all ages, men and women, as well as all abilities.

If you want to come join us all you need to do is put on comfy shoes, comfy clothes, and show up at 9:00 am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Or – whenever you can.

I bet you want to know how much it is going to cost you to go to 3 Bible studies each week, 2 aerobic sessions, 1 mobility class, and 3 floor exercise sessions. It’s going to cost you an open heart, open mind, a few laughs, a few prayers, and an out-pouring of friendship. Other than that – it’s free of charge.
Can’t exercise because of health reason? That’s ok – join us for Bible study.

Are you thinking you have to be a member of New Leaf UMC to attend Fit for Christ? Or at least attend New Leaf UMC to join in? Absolutely not ! We love meeting new people.

If anyone has questions about our Small Group just ask me at church or give me a call at home or send me an email.

Oh yes, and always remember to:

Love the Lord - Love one another - Make Disciples
