MISSION/OUTREACH MEETINGS
Is the Lord leading you to get more involved in
the mission at New Leaf? We meet each month on
the second Tuesday at 6 p.m. to discern what God
would have New Leaf do in mission and outreach
to the world. During our meetings we also
decide on our strategy to accomplish the
mission. It is so COOL to be involved with a
Team that is pursuing the heart of God and
seeking to be His hands and feet in Conneaut!
Please consider joining us… and TOGETHER we will
make a difference in our community!
FOOD PANTRY NEWS------BY SUE MCKAY
One of our missions of the church is to
continue to help our local Food Pantry, which is
located in our Conneaut Human Resource Center.
This is a very important task as one never knows
who may need the help. Another reason we need to help is
that every year, there is the Annual Postal Food
Drive. Last year, over 7,000 pounds of food
items were collected. In May of this year, less
than 5,000 pounds of food products were
received. Also, the food pantry weighs items
that come in and the items that are given out.
For the past several months, more pounds have
been given out than have been taken in. So,
every two months, there is a change of the Food
Pantry Goals, found on the table in the front lobby by
the church office. For the months of July and
August, our goals are
20 jars of Peanut Butter,
35 cans of tuna fish,
35 cans of baked bean, and
20 containers of deodorant. Since people that receive
food stamps cannot use the stamps for soap or
paper products; that is why we try to collect
some of those items each month. Thank you to all
that participate and contribute to this project.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED:
every Friday.....at 3:30 pm---to set up the
tables and chairs for the weekly
dinner......and then again at 6:30 pm---to take
down the tables and chairs from the
dinner......in this way, the cooks in the
kitchen do not have to do this. Thanks
to all in advance.
WEEKLY GIVING:
10% of what is put in the offering plate goes to
missions each week that money is used for paying
our apportionments; people with
emergencies; and paying for our weekly dinners.
Bless all of you!! |
